Pengfei's paper entitled "Crystalline polyethylene nanofibers with the theoretical limit of Young's modulus" was published online in Advanced Materials.
Baoan's invited paper entitled "Near-field radiative heat transfer for Si based metamaterials" was published in Optics Communications.
Dr. Shen delivered an invited talk in the Third EITA Young Investigator Conference (EITA-YIC 2013), Boston, MA.
Dr. Shen has been awarded a highly competitive 2013 Young Faculty Award from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
Jiawei’s paper entitled “Tuning near field radiation by doped silicon” was accepted by Applied Physics Letters.
Baoan’s paper entitled “Broadband near-field radiative thermal emitter/absorber based on hyperbolic metamaterials: Direct numerical simulation by Wiener-chaos expansion methods” was published in Physical Review B.
Dr. Shen has received the National Science Foundation Early Career Development Award (CAREER), its most prestigious award for junior faculty.
Dr. Shen's review paper entitled "Experimental studies of radiative heat transfer between bodies at small separations" was accepted by Annual Review of Heat Transfer.
Our paper about nanoscale thermal radiation between metallic surfaces was published in Applied Physics Letters.
Dr. Shen was invited to attend the 1st International Workshop on Nano-Micro Thermal Radiation (NanoRad2012) held in Miyaji, Japan, and give a talk: "Probing Nanoscale Radiative Heat Transfer by Atomic Force Microscopes".
Dr. Shen co-chaired two sessions in the ASME 3rd Micro/Nanoscale Heat & Mass Transfer held in Atlanta.
Dr. Shen was invited to give a talk in the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL).
Dr. Shen was invited to attend the 7th US-Japan Seminar on Nanoscale Transport Phenomena held in Shima, Japan, and give a talk: "Probing Extraordinary Energy Transfer at the Nanoscale".
